FAQs

  • For the first round of auditions, you should come in with a verse and chorus of a song of your choosing prepared. In addition to hearing your song, we'll run you through some basic range tests and pitch-matching exercises. No worries, we guide you through everything, and it all takes no longer than about 5 minutes.

  • We rehearse 7 hours a week, scheduled around the needs of our members, including new people we take after auditions. In addition to rehearsal, we perform local gigs every few weeks and have a concert in Harvard's Sanders Theater once each semester. We also go on tour three times a year, all scheduled around breaks so as not to interfere with other time commitments. We work with each member to make sure the Veritones can best accommodate members. People commit to sing per semester.

  • If you're at all interested in joining the group, you're welcome to come and audition for us! Our members all started off with varying degrees of musical background, from shower singers to a cappella wizards. Auditions may seem daunting, but you never know what may come of it, so don't be afraid to come audition for us! We strive to make the auditions process as friendly and seamless as possible.

  • Our repertoire spans a variety of genres, from pop hits to R&B. All of our songs are democratically chosen by members through and careful suggestion and voting process, which means that our sound changes with every new member. You can get a taste of music we've done by checking out our YouTube and Spotify!

  • We perform local gigs throughout the year and perform once each semester in our Fall and Spring Jams at Harvard's Sanders Theater. In addition, we have competed in the International Competition for Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) and also do projects, such as music videos and studio recordings.

  • Harvard has over 10 a cappella groups on campus. The Veritones are one of the four main secular, co-ed groups. Aside from making awesome music with songs chosen democratically by members of the group, we are a family, which sits at the heart of our group. Being a Veritone means embarking on an experience that will shape your time in college, give you some of your closest friends, and provide unconditional support and love. We hope that you'll audition to join our Veri-family!
